Casarecce Romantica - for Valentine's Day

Labels: beef ragu, Casarecce Romantica, main course recipe, minced beef, red wine, Valentine's Day
This rich and delicious beef ragu is one of hubby's own recipes, that he had been pondering over for a few days.  During one of our board meetings when we set the menu for the week, he announced that he'd be making a "romantic beef ragu".  Well, you can't argue with that!

I have to admit, I was a teensy bit skeptical about what a "romantic beef ragu" would entail.  Was he going to be using rose petals (well, they're in Ras al hanout spice mix!), or maybe gilding it in gold or - horrors - using heart in the mix!

Top 5 Smart Moves You Should Consider To Be A Successful Person

Being a successful person or successful entrepreneur does not necessarily mean being wealthy or rich as people don’t usually measure success by wealth. Simply put, business success is usually recorded when your income negates your outgoing – be it daily or monthly. In other word, you are a successful person when you are able to make money considerably more than you spend.
Some people are confused when it comes to measuring success because it is generally believed that a wealthy or rich person is a successful person. What we usually forget is the fact that success will always be success no matter how big or small, and most especially we don’t have to record it huge before we can assume the status of a “successful person”.

St. Tropez Skin Illuminator in Rose MAC's Strobe Cream

For those of you who enjoy a more dewy complexion and are fond of "highlighting", I've come across a light-weight illuminator that gives skin a gorgeous sheen.  Resembling ever so slightly MAC's Strobe Cream, the Skin Illuminator by St. Tropez can be applied to your cheekbones, decolletage, arms and/or shins for an effortless and luminous glow. When I think of St. Tropez, I immediately think about their self-tanning mousse which I'm sure most of you have also heard of. However, their product range also includes gradual tanning products, self-tanning gels/lotions, tan optimizers and much more.

Can exercise reduce my risk of cancer?

Exercise appears to decrease the risk of the most common deadly cancers in general. Physical activity decreases breast cancer risk, at least partly by affecting levels of sex hormones in the body. There's clearly a protective effect of exercise against developing colorectal cancer (CRC). The risk of lung cancer may be decreased somewhat by regular exercise in younger smokers. Studies on the relationship between physical activity and the risk of prostate cancer are conflicting. If exercise has any protective effect against the development of prostate cancer, it's likely quite weak.

The science has weighed in on the effect of exercise on cancer. Women who moderately exercised 1.5 hours per week had a 50 percent reduction in cancer risk. There are lower rates of colon cancer in individuals who exercise regularly.

Researchers examining 74,000 women enrolled in the Women's Health Initiative study recently found that exercise reduced the risk of breast cancer regardless of age. Women who exercise regularly have lower rates of breast cancer.

Michelle Holmes, M.D., Ph.D. assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, reported a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association on the benefits of exercise on breast cancer. Walking three hours a week at an average pace of 2 to 2.9 miles per hour cuts the risk of dying from breast cancer in half. Even a little exercise -- one to three hours a week -- cut the risk of breast cancer death by 20 percent.

These studies are very encouraging, not only for women with breast cancer but for everyone with or without cancer. We are continually being told by studies we must exercise to live a long and healthy life.

How should I exercise if I want to lose weight?

When it comes to exercising when you carry excess body weight, it is important that you check in with your doctor, or perhaps a physical therapist to help create a program that you can manage, that will not stress you, and that will push you to your healthy limits. If you haven't exercised in a while, you might be afraid of overdoing it or even injuring yourself. The basic principle is to start out with light to moderate exercise like walking. Just 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day can make your weight -- and your blood pressure -- come down.

Start working with an exercise physiologist or certified fitness trainer, who can tailor an exercise regimen to your needs -- and under your doctor's supervision you can gradually raise the intensity of your routine as your endurance and strength grow.

While it's important to burn off calories and fat through exercise, you will also need to build stamina and tone your muscles. So you will need a plan that combines aerobics (cardiovascular exercise), muscle strengthening, and stretching. Balancing the number of calories you burn through exercise and physical activity with the calories you eat will help you reach your desired weight. A key to successful weight loss and improved overall health is making physical activity a part of your daily routine

Wedding Hairstyles Idea

A bride can choose to look like a fairytale princess at her wedding, or she can choose to look like the queen of the castle instead; she can choose an enchanting hairstyle, or she can opt for one that is totally bewitching. She may even choose to go with the more unconventional but daring hairstyle on her wedding day. The princess hairstyle: is one of the most flattering hairstyles that a young bride could choose for her wedding day.

Most wedding hairstyles require that the hair be pulled back from the face, and the princess hairstyle is no exception. The princess wedding hairstyle can however be held up or down. This hairstyle can work for the bride with long hair or the bride with medium hair.

The queen hairstyle: is very much like the princess hairstyle with the exception that the hairstyles are more elaborate and may include side bangs to soften the somewhat severe look of aristocracy. Side paths, middle paths, or no paths at all may be used in the hair which could either be loosely pulled back or tightly pulled back. All other wedding hairstyles are basically modifications of these two however. Variations of the upswept hair include half up-half down options and fully upswept options. For the fully upswept look, the bride could consider the French knot or variations of the French knot with soft bangs sweeping the forehead.
